studio POLICY

I believe in developing a stable, long-term relationship with my students. My policies are designed to develop a fruitful teacher and student relationship where the student makes the best progress and so that I, the teacher, can have a stable workplace. This situation provides you, my valued students, with the best chance for success.

Why keeping weekly lessons is important

Your Development

It is important for you to have a weekly lesson. It’s simply the best way for you to make great progress. Your weekly commitment will, over time, produce great results for you.

My Time

When you take lessons with me, you are reserving a time that has been agreed upon by both student and teacher. Once I have given you a weekly time, I don't book students or work at that time, because I am holding it just for you. It is important for the student to honor the agreed upon time, and to let me know in advance if you are running late, or unable to keep the appointment. Lessons canceled in a less than 24-hourtime period will be charged the full rate of lesson.

Attendance/Make-up Policies

In an attempt to provide my students with the best possible consistency of training, I am unable to make up lessons if you miss your appointment on a consistent basis. By adhering to this policy I am able to keep a consistent schedule, and am able to focus on providing you with the best lessons possible.

Rescheduling

I understand that the student/parent or I may have life events that may conflict with our scheduled lesson. In keeping this in mind, I ask that rescheduled lessons are kept to a minimum, no more than one lesson every three months.

Practicing

I expect all my students to put in time each week to practice their material, so that we can learn new material during the lessons. This is imperative for the growth of the students musical ability. Because every student learns in a different way, a practice regimen can be discussed during the first few lessons.

TRAVEL POLICY

Lessons through this studio are unique because the teacher travels to the student. Certain procedures apply to in-home lessons. *Due to the recent COVID-19 restrictions, all travel lessons are suspended until further notice.

LESSON START/END TIMES

If no one is home at the beginning of the lesson, the teacher will wait for ten minutes. If no one has arrived by then, the lesson is considered cancelled; no make-up lesson will be offered except under extenuating circumstances. A lesson that starts late on the student's behalf will still end on time.

SUPERVISION

An adult (parent, guardian, babysitter, etc.) is required to be home throughout the duration of the student's lesson.

Although not required, parents or guardians of younger students are strongly encouraged to observe lessons so that they can guide their children during practice.

TEACHER ABSENCES

In the event that the teacher must cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson will always be offered. If a make-up lesson is not possible due to schedule conflicts, a lesson credit will be applied to the next tuition payment.
